"Fruit is nature's candy"  Fruits are both delicious and nutritious . They can reduce the risk of death almost by 42 percent. So, it is important to develop the habit of eating fruits to try to maintain a healthy lifestyle . Citrus fruits such as lemons, limes, grapefruits are especially good for maintaining a healthy heart. Fruits also have less calories than other food groups, and more fiber . Fruits also have important vitamins and minerals. Fruits can also help avoid diseases such as cancer, diabetes, etc. Fruits help maintain our cells healthy in order to have strong bodies. The sun was shining beautifully on this warm June day. Everyone was happily walking outside trying to make it to the beach . It was as if everyone deliberately agreed to go today. But as I looked around I noticed a dog, he was lazily laying on a bench and he would occasionally pick his head up when someone would walk by. I innocently walked over to dog to see if he would like a piece of pizza that I was eating. As I got closer the dog eagerly wagged his tail. Eventually I have the dog a piece of my pizza and he seemed perfectly happy to eat it. The dog and I sat together for some time. We talked about school, parents and friends especially friends because my best friend and I just got into an argument . As people walked past they awkwardly looked at me, but I didn't care because it was nice to talk to someone without worrying about judgement . "A dog is the only thing on earth that will love you more than he loves himself." - Josh Billings  This is Peanut! He is my dog and is currently nine years old but still has a ton of energy ! Peanut is a brown, black and tan. He weighs approximately twelve pounds . Peanut is a purebred Yorkshire Terrier, or Yorkie. Peanut and I go on walks about two to three times per day, and he is always super excited! Peanut's favorite snack are Frosty Paws, which is ice cream made specifically for dogs, but he also enjoys eating carrots and bananas. We celebrate Peanut's birthday, August 30th, by making sure he has his Frosty Paws ice cream and a new toy. His favorite toy is anything that squeaks , but he also loves stuffed animals which he uses to cuddle and sleep with. On snow days or rainy days Peanut still has so much fun playing and running around outside. It isn't so much fun for me but that's okay, as long as he's happy. Every night Peanut and I

"If you have only one smile in you give it to the people you love." - Maya Angelou     February 14th is also known as Valentine 's Day. This day is celebrate d by thousands of people to celebrate love and friendships. On this day people give each other gifts, flowers, chocolates, or even a card.  People that care for each other such as parents, children, friends, and  couples . But how did this holiday begin? The most known theory is that a Emperor Claudius II outlawed the marriage during times of war to make sure that his solider could fight. But a priest named Valentine thought that this law was unjust and he continued to marry young couples. Eventually, the Emperor realized what Valentine was doing and he was captured and put to death on February 14th. Despite the sad beginning for this holiday, it is unknown when it was first celebrated, but it is a beautiful way to show those you love how appreciated they are.   Vocabulary: valentine - a gif

This day is dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who was a visionary ahead of his time in civil rights . Dr. King was born in 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia and was a Baptist minister throughout his life. He also was the face of the Civil Rights Movement. One of Dr. King's most memorable acts toward equal civil rights was the March on Washington where Dr. King along with approximately 200,000 other people marched to the capital and stood in front of the Lincoln Memorial .
